Cambodia Team - Aldersgate has a special focus on this poor and war-torn country with a rapidly growing Christian community of over 100,000, the majority of which are Methodists. We financially support local missionaries, ministries and sister congregations and periodically send mission teams. Katrina Rebuilding Team - Aldersgate sends mission teams to Mississippi where we work to rebuild houses in the area made uninhabitable by the storm. To become involved, please contact Bob Oelschlager at 703 960-2830 / BOelschl@cox.net
Volunteers in Mission (VIM) Team - Aldersgate sends mission teams on an as needed basis to places in the region needing assistance. Previous destinations have included appalachia and storm devastated areas of Virginia. The VIM team identifies regional needs and plans and organizes the mission trips. Fair Trade Coffee Team - Aldersgate serves only fair trade coffee after services on Sundays; and makes fair trade coffee available for sale on the first Sunday of the month. The Fair Trade Coffee team publicizes the issue and organizes the coffeee sales. Volunteers are needed; to become involved please call Deborah Chusmir or send an email to Compassion@aldersgate.net
Local "Fix-it" Team - When mission-team-like rebuilding is needed in the local area, the Local "Fix-it" team works with Outreach to identify the need, plans the work, and staffs specific teams working with the United Methodist Men and United Methodist Women. Support Team - Assists with updating the website, publicity and communications, phone calls, special projects and fundraising, the annual alternative giving bazaar, event set-ups, meeting minutes, etc. To become involved, please send an email to Compassion@aldersgate.net
