Electronic Giving – Let’s Make it Happen!

The 2009 Commitment Campaign has some very important goals.  Each of these goals is vital to the future of our church and the work that Aldersgate does here at home and around the world.  /files/Various Images/edited BE PART_4c_large_1.jpg

  1. We need to collect 500 Commitment Cards.
  2. We are in need of 200 One-Time Gifts totaling $200,000 in order to “Close the Gap” in 2008.
  3. In addition to the congregation pledging their time and talents more than ever before, we are also striving to achieve a 5% increase in overall giving – which will let  us move more rapidly to being a debt-free church.

The fourth goal is a very important one as well.  We would like to have all commitments done through Electronic Giving.  We can save time, money, and effort – while improving the Aldersgate financial planning system.  Electronic Giving is a great benefit to the giver and the church…please BE PART OF IT!

So, what is the benefit of this new option?  Online Giving will simplify your giving.  No more last minute check writing as you run out the door to church.  This option also helps the church by ensuring consistent donations throughout the year, particularly in the usually lower-attended summer months.

OK, how do I start? Go to www.aldersgate.net/onlinegiving .  There you can either log in or create a new login (please use the email address that is registered with the church.)  After that, you will be on a page called “Give Now.”  Put in a one-time gift, or if you prefer, click the box called “recurring” and set up a periodic gift.  Use your bank account, credit card, or debit card for the transfer.  It’s Easy!

Do I have to do it every week? No. While you can give One-Time Gifts via Electronic Giving (and we hope you will!) once you set up a recurring gift, it will automatically be transferred until a time you specify – or until you cancel it.

Will I still be able to give to special offerings?  Yes.  We encourage your participation in special offerings.  Those offerings can be given in the offering plate or as Electronic One-Time Gifts.  Currently we are accepting recurring donations for the Mission & Ministry budget, the Building Fund budget, and the fund called “Close the Gap” which will be used to catch up the two budgets.

How do I participate in the offering during the worship service if I give online? Special cards that say “I Gave Electronically” will be provided in the pews for you to put in the offering plate if you wish.

Who do I talk to if I have more questions? Please contact Aldersgate’s Financial Administrator, Meghan Lau at 703-765-6555 x607 or m.lau@aldersgate.net.

Electronic Giving benefits everyone – so please BE PART OF IT!
