College and Seminary Scholarship Offerings

This Spring for Aldersgate Youth

In 2007, Carl and JoAnn McNair created a college scholarship fund for Aldersgate youth and students from the surrounding area.  They recognized that as Aldersgate had grown, the number of our youth had grown with it, and many worthy students were in need of financial assistance to go to college.

Similarly, in 2009, Lew Ashley created a fund to provide assistance to Methodist Seminary students in Virginia as an extension of Lew’s long years of dedication and service to Wesley Seminary.

This spring, the McNair and Ashley Endowments together with the Hoffman, Einhaus and Fox Funds will again offer a total of eight scholarships; seven for $1,500 each and one Music scholarship for $1,000. Aldersgate members and children have priority of selection and are urged to apply, but scholarships may be awarded to non-members who apply from the surrounding area.

Criteria for awarding the scholarships are the following:

academic achievement,

financial need,

contributions to church, and

contributions to community.

Applications must be submitted by May 1, 2011. Forms are available at the church and on the website (below).  Decisions will be announced in June.

Anyone seeking further information may contact any member of the Endowment Committee: Gary Bradshaw, Jay Steadman, John Martin, Lois Fairchild, Win Lindley, Roger Amole, Lew Ashley, Mary Ann Robertson, and Joe Tompkins.
