Aldersgate United Methodist Men

This men’s Fellowship is chartered and certified by the Board of Discipline of the United Methodist Church. It is a Christian Fellowship of men who wish to enrich themselves through contact with other God fearing men. Members will be stimulated by shared interests and experience, strengthened by prayerful mutual support service to our Church, and committed to an outreach of service to others in Christ’s name.

OBJECTIVES

(1)                To fill a vital and distinctive niche in the Aldersgate Men’s Ministry

(2)                To become well informed on the mission and ministry of Aldersgate

(3)                To encourage commitment to service to Aldersgate and the United Methodist Church as both a fellowship and as individuals

(4)                To promote brotherhood and mutual support among fellow members

(5)                To enjoy the rich benefit of fellowship and shared experiences of good men

(6)                To emphasize the importance of a Christian dimension and discipleship in the daily lives of members

(7)                To seek and undertake projects that will further the fulfillment of a vigorous outreach program.

We meet every two months on the fourth Tuesday evening with a fellowship supper and a speaker. The speaker selected discusses subjects of interest to the membership. Recent speakers have included a decorated Vietnam prisoner of war, a former Redskin lineman, a member who returned from England with a report of the problems with the United Methodist Church in that country, and a holocaust survivor.

Each year we charter a bus to take members to see the Washington Nationals baseball team play. We also sponsor a golf tournament as a fund raiser. We have used our excess funds from dues, suppers, and fund raisers to support worthy causes and to improve church facilities. Members assist in landscaping efforts and various other maintenance efforts throughout the year. We show religious themed movies each month.

We welcome new members. Come Join us!
