Mulch Sales Support
Thank you, Aldersgate Congregation and Surrounding Community!
On Saturday, April 10, Troop 996 distributed over 2,100 bags of mulch, our most successful mulch project to date. Proceeds support our camping programs.

The annual “Scout Sunday Cakes” were delivered to the Eleanor Kennedy Shelter and to Rising Hope Church on February 19. See the photo below.
Aldersgate’ s online / virtual worship service audience could not view the posters that were displayed in the church on Scout Sunday. Below are links to the Posters as well as to three short presentations showing activities of the three Scout groups that meet at Aldersgate:

Coast Guard Flag Officer Speaks to Troop 996 by Colin
On February 28, Vice Admiral (VADM) Daniel Abel, US Coast Guard (Retired) met with Troop 996 to share his experiences in Boy Scouts and in the Coast Guard. VADM Abel was recalled to Active Duty in 2020 and most recently served as the Director of the COVID Interagency Coordination Cell led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. VADM Abel concludes his official biography with the fact that he is an Eagle Scout.
In this video call, VADM Abel explained to us what it is like to be a Coast Guard helicopter pilot and how his experiences in Boy Scouts helped him become a better Coast Guardsman, Pilot, and Leader.
VADM Abel also shared a story that stressed the importance of leaders listening to their teams. From this discussion, I picked up that I should trust other people's judgment and take their opinions into consideration.
For his Eagle Scout project, VADM Abel organized a Scout band to go around nursing homes and other areas of town to play music and entertain others.
