MISSION INFORMATION

Flood Buckets for UMCOR Disaster Response

Mondloch House.png

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) deploys flood buckets to vulnerable people affected by natural disasters. Flood buckets offer critical support to families in crisis – providing them with basic cleaning supplies to begin to muck out their houses and stop the spread of mold.

Packing flood buckets is a great way for our congregation to serve those in need when disasters strike. This year Aldersgate is partnering with Woodlawn Faith UMC on their campus (7010 Harrison Ln, Alexandria, VA 22306) on Sunday, September 29th, from 12:45-2:30pm for this event.

We want 30 volunteers from Aldersgate to join 30 volunteers from Woodlawn Faith UMC for this project. There is a moderate amount of lifting and walking involved and we will be outside at Woodlawn Faith. Please dress accordingly. Parking is limited, so carpooling is also encouraged.

Another opportunity to support this mission is to provide snacks for the flood bucket packers. Sign up below to bring snacks to Aldersgate UMC on Sunday, September 29th in the Wesley Hall kitchen before 10:45am. These will be taken to Woodlawn Faith UMC to be enjoyed by all.
