The United Women in Faith (UWF) and United Methodist Men (UMM) invite you to a special social action dinner and discussion on Tuesday, March 12th, from 6:30pm - 9:00pm in Wesley Hall. We will be joined by special guest speaker Jill Barker who will speak on native plants, eco system restoration, energy poverty, and Energy Masters retrofits that are applied to low-income housing.
Ticket Cost: $10 per person / $20 per family

Payment will be collected at the door on the day of the dinner.

Jill Barker is a retired energy regulatory attorney who seeks opportunities to advance environmental justice and outdoor appreciation. Jill is currently chair of the Arlington County volunteer Parks and Recreation Commission. She is a certified Arlington Regional Master Naturalist, and within that program has served since 2019 as a Park Steward at Upton Hill, a property owned by NOVA Parks Authority.
As Chair of the Board of EcoAction Arlington from 2020-2022, Jill participated in establishing the Tree Canopy Equity Program that seeks to plant native trees and shrubs in neighborhoods suffering from heat island effect, and in which reside large numbers of low-income persons and persons of color. More than ten years ago she helped establish the EcoAction Arlington Energy Masters program that provides energy efficiency upgrades to low-income renters in multi-family housing. Jill became a qualified Energy Master in 2010.
Jill became a United Methodist Earthkeeper in 2016. In 2018 she received the Sustainability Champion Award from Faith Alliance for Environmental Solutions for her efforts to replicate the Energy Masters program into the faith setting. Jill served as the President of the Management Board of Foundry United Methodist Church from 2012-2015, where she has been a member since 1984.
Jill served on the board of Arlington Thrive, a local nonprofit that provides same day emergency assistance from 2009-2015. Jill earned the title Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Captain in 2019.
