Life Stages Planning Seminar

The Aldersgate UMC Endowment Team invites you to a special seminar on life stages planning. This seminar will be from 8:30am - 12:30pm on Saturday, March 2nd.

This seminar is open to all church and community members. There is no cost to attend. Coffee, tea, and pastries will be provided.

Sessions will be provided on the following topics:

Estate Planning

Deborah Matthews, an attorney who specializes in estate planning, probate, trust and estate management, will provide Estate Planning 101 with ample time for Q&A. She is licensed to practice in VA, MD, DC, before the Supreme Court, and Tax court.

Planned Giving & Endowments

Tommy Herndon and Brad Duty from the UM Virginia Conference Foundation will provide information on how you may choose to meet your church and charitable giving objectives with tax-free dollars and ideas on how to create an endowment or a donor advised fund.

Senior Living Options

Paula Lettice, BOD President of “Mount Vernon at Home” (501c3) will discuss her organization and its services and costs for those who desire to remain in their home for as long as possible with as much independence as is possible.

Arvette Reid, Client Service Director for SEIA, will present by video. This presentation will provide information on a full spectrum of senior housing options and the general cost and contractual nature of each.

Funeral Planning

Cory Evans, Funeral Director of Jefferson Funeral Chapel, a family owned and operated provider of service to families in Northern Virginia, will offer an overview on “where to begin and what to expect” when grieving the loss of a loved one. He will cover aspects of pre-planning and if desired pre-paying options.
