UNITED METHODIST WOMEN (UMW)

We are faith, hope, and love in action.

Faith: Women who participate in monthly circle meetings and support mission projects to grow spiritually and become more deeply rooted in Christ by putting faith into action.

Hope: Our national mission institutions empower women, care for children, educate and equip youth, care for the neglected, advocate for social justice issues, create economic opportunities and strengthen neighborhoods.

Love: Our members give out of their love for the world and provide financial support for local and national mission institutions, supporting 121 programs taking place in 110 countries.

Action: UMW members’ voices are heard around the world as they call for justice on issues such as immigration, human trafficking, domestic violence, health care, and the environment.

2021 CHRISTMAS MARKETPLACE MISSION DRIVE

Our work as UMW is to help women, children, and youth through our prayers, service, and giving. We are sad to announce that due to the pandemic UMW will not have its traditional Christmas Marketplace for the second time in over 20 years at which we raise about $18,000 annually for missions. Since we do not want the missions we support to suffer, we are asking for donations for these vital missions through a Christmas Marketplace Mission Drive during the month of October.  Please prayerfully consider making a donation through UMW to the missions, listed above, which otherwise would have been supported by the proceeds from our Christmas Marketplace in any amount you can afford. We appreciate our Aldersgate Church Family and pray that members who can support these missions are spiritually led to do so. We will keep you updated on how close we are to reaching our goal of $18,000.

It is easy to give: Click here to make an electronic donation (and save the receipt), or write a check to Aldersgate UMW and mail it to the church (1301 Collingwood Rd. Alexandria, VA 22308) or drop it by the reception desk Monday – Thursday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm by October 31, 2021.  Include your name and address, if it is not on your check, and write “Christmas Market” in the memo line. The electronic giving option is new this year, but be sure to save the electronic receipt because the UMW Treasurer will not be able to send a separate receipt nor will this donation be on your Aldersgate giving statement. All donations are tax deductible.
