These exciting lessons will include a 15-minute video that brings the Bible story-of-the-day to life, followed by a high-energy singing and dancing praise song, hands-on crafts, and games. All children ages 4 years old through rising 6th grade are welcome to attend. No registration required. *If you would like to volunteer to help with Kid Check-In or teaching, please see the Sign-Up Genius or reach out to our KidMin Director.     Support children in need in our community. MISSION INFORMATION < Previous Back to Local Missions Next > Summer Food & Snack Drive for Local Students Many local students live with food insecurity. During the summer months students do not have access to meals at schools. Throughout the month of May, Aldersgate UMC will be collecting food for students that is child-friendly, nutritious, non-perishable and easy to prepare and eat (see below-list of suggested food donations). Donations may be dropped off any time in the bin at Door 3 throughout the month of May.     The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and its partners are responding to and supporting those impacted by hurricanes. MISSION INFORMATION < Previous Back to National & International Missions Next > US Hurricane Response Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton have devastated parts of the southeastern United States, bringing catastrophic wind, rain, and flash flooding to many states and communities. In response, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is coordinating with affected annual conferences and supporting their local relief efforts through the award of financial grants and the deployment of UMCOR-trained Early Response Teams (ERTs) who are coordinating efforts to support the removal of debris, tarping of roofs, and cleaning out of homes in hard-hit areas. The Virginia Annual Conference is supporting these efforts by putting together and sending UMCOR Cleaning (Flood) Buckets, including the 150 Flood Buckets put together by Aldersgate UMC and Woodlawn Faith UMC.     During the winter months, Aldersgate supports the Hypothermia Shelter at the Rising Hope United Methodist Mission Church on Russell Road. MISSION INFORMATION < Previous Back to Local Missions Next > Hypothermia Shelter In partnership with Ventures in Community and New Hope Housing , Rising Hope United Methodist Church provides overnight emergency shelter from December through March for individuals experiencing homelessness. Volunteers from community churches and local civic groups provide a hot home cooked dinner and breakfast bags. Aldersgate UMC is proud to support this mission again this year! We will collect donations of winter clothing and/or blankets through the month of March. Donations may be new or used and in good condition. The most needed items are socks, gloves, hats, and coats.   • Aldersgate UMC | Rising Hope Souper Bowl Drive

    Donate cans of soup to support the mission and ministry of Rising Hope UMC. MISSION INFORMATION < Previous Back to Local Missions Next > Rising Hope Souper Bowl Drive We are collecting cans of soup throughout the month of February that will go to support the missions and ministries at Rising Hope Mission Church. Our goal is to collect at least 500 cans of soup throughout the month of February. Consider picking up additional cans of soup each time you shop and deliver them to the designated bins at Aldersgate. Please look for soups that are high in vegetables and protein, low in sodium count, and in cans that have a pop-top.
